About me

I started playing drums at primary school having been encouraged by a teacher there called Bob Christopher and inspired by watching drummers on 'Top of The Pops' during the 1970's. Before long I was gigging and recording with bands locally. Being the era of New Wave and Punk, it was a great time to start. I was playing gigs in London by the age of 17.

During the 1980's I started gigging and recording with my own groups writing my own songs and music. This led to me joining a UK based band called Asylum. We wrote and recorded 3 albums and went on to tour and record across the UK, Europe and USA. I also worked with the legendary UK rock group New Model Army.

Next I recorded an album and gigged with indie/folk singer/songwriter John Forrester and started playing Soul and Funk with Short People and Hi Records tribute 99lbs. I then worked with indie singer/songwriter Mike Halliwell on his debut album.

Recently I've been recording and perfoming with The Mick Ralphs Blues Band (featuring Mick Ralphs, legendary guitarist, songwriter and founder member of Mott The Hoople and Bad Company), Jack Cade and the Everyday Sinners and The Eric Street Band. I'm in regular demand as first call or dep for many other groups playing Ska, Jazz, Rock, Soul, Punk, Metal, Folk and just about anything else! In the last 6 years alone, I've played with over 30 groups/artists in the UK and Europe. Contact me via this website if you'd like me to play at your recording or gig.

In my drumming career I have played venues from 50 - 5000 people including outdoor festivals and recorded in top studios in the UK and USA with professional producers and engineers.

I'm now able to share my drumming experience by offering drum lessons either in my own small studio or at clients locations. I also teach at The Denefield School, Dolphin School and Earley Music Centre in Reading, Berkshire. Previous students of mine have passed Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall Grade exams with merits and distinctions. Some have progressed to study drums full time at ACM in Guildford and other top music schools. One of my recent students was a finalist in the prestigious 'UK Young Drummer of the Year' competition.
